What it is

The 2-year constant-maturity Treasury yield (FRED DGS2) is published daily by the Federal Reserve Board. It moves with expectations for the Fed funds rate more than any other bond yield.

Why it matters for liquidity

When the 2-year yield sits well above the overnight rate, markets expect tighter money; well below, they expect cuts. That gap is tracked on the SOFR minus 2-year page, and the 2-year against the 10-year forms the yield curve.

Questions

What is the 2-year Treasury yield today?

On 29 October 2026 it was 4.61%, down 0.04 points on the week and up 1.02 points on a year earlier.

Why does the 2-year yield follow the Fed?

A 2-year note can be replicated by rolling overnight or short-term borrowing for two years, so its yield reflects where markets expect short-term rates to be.
